GRP Roofs- warm or cold?

New builds require flat roofs to be “warm”. So what is the difference between warm and cold roofs?

Cold Roofs

Cold roofs are where the insulation is installed below the deck of the roof, normally between the joists.

Warm roofs

Warm roofs are where the insulation is installed above ‘on the outside’ of the deck of the roof and then an additional deck is added. This prevents moisture from the air in the room condensing when it hits the roof causing possible mould and damp issues
